Which Way

I found myself saying we’re going to do this my way as I sat down to work on a project with friends.  My way was ok but it wasn’t the only way.   When I stopped to listen to others and look at the project in a different way it became clear that my way wasn’t exactly the right way.  I learned a good lesson that day.  I learned that whenever I say it’s my way or the highway, that it is never God’s way.   The Bible says love does not insist on its own way.   Which way have you been going?

In Good Hands

When I was young we used to sing a song in church that said,  He’s got the whole world in his hands. We don’t sing that song anymore but it’s still true. God has the whole world right there in his hands, not just my world but the whole world. In my own world work and life balance go hand in hand. Whose hand I put both in makes a big difference.  God’s hands can hold everything I put in it.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me to place it all in your hands and see your hand at work in every area of my life. Help me recognize your hands are much bigger than and stronger than mine. Thank you Lord for keeping me in your good hands. Amen

Fully Meets

wiirocku: littleseedletters: Slowing down and remembering the mindset of Christ, which is humility James 4:10 (NIV) - Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.: The two words on the form said fully meets. My performance review was done and it said I was fully meeting the goals of the department and those I set for myself.  One quick moment of rejoicing led to another moment of self-reflection and a little more of a reality check.  I began to think Lord am I fully meeting your standards?  Am I doing the kingdom work that is required of me?  I’m going to church, staying active in ministry, trying to serve others, I think I have it right but I really don’t.  I know I don’t always  measure up and I know I can do better.  My ratings on taming my tongue, procrastination and bible study alone can easily knock me down from thinking I’m something that I’m not.  Add in fasting and praying and I’m in no better position to fully meet or measure up to any spiritual standards. So I say a quick prayer and ask the Lord to help me live purposefully on pitch.  I ask Him to guide me , help me guard my mind, heart and life to fully meet what He requires.  Thank God for His grace and mercy which fully meets me at the point of my need.  The grace of God is sufficient and still amazing.  I am once again reminded that without God I can do nothing and without Him I would surely fail.

James 4:10 ESV Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.

Fire That Works

10 best Fourth of July firework displays #Travel #4thofJuly:   I love to watch fireworks shows.  The bursts, the colors, the music excites me and I anxiously await how the next one will be bigger or better than the last. Watching fireworks is fun.  I realized in the Bible there is evidence of fireworks also.  Did you know that?  Just ask Moses who saw fireworks in  a burning bush in Exodus 3 or Elijah who witnessed the fire of God in 1 Kings 18.  The evidence speaks for itself that the fire of God works.  The prophet Jeremiah declared the word of God was like fire in his bones and three men named Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of an overheated furnace unharmed, with God walking in the midst of them. Talk about a fireworks show.  The Bible says in Hebrews 12:29 that our God is a consuming fire. If you want to see a good fireworks show just look in the Bible.  Scripture displays the best examples of fire that works.  It gets bigger and better each time I read about the fire of God consuming and guiding our footsteps despite difficulties.   I pray  that God will allow me to see and experience fireworks in my daily life.  I’m asking God to burn up, turn up and show up just like He did for so many others I’ve read about in scripture.  I pray that others  will see God’s fire working in me because I want to be a beautiful display of His grace and mercy.
