I recently attended the Cutting It Straight Expository Preaching Conference in Jacksonville, FL. It was a great conference experience and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I thank God for Pastor H.B. Charles Jr and the entire Shiloh Church family. I have grown, been equipped for better ministry leadership and met some really great brothers and sisters in Christ. While I am no preacher and I don’t plan on preaching any sermons, I have a greater appreciation and love for pastors. To hear sound doctrine, learn from those who take God’s word seriously and carefully explain the text it makes me want to dig deeper everyday. I attended the conference’s worship track and learned so much about Worship and the Word. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from some of the best worship leaders around. They cut me just straight enough to keep living on pitch with intention to magnify the Lord. I thank God for this conference and highly recommend it to others to attend. There really is something for everyone (senior pastors, associates, ministry leaders, worship leaders, youth leaders, and women’s ministry leaders) at Cutting It Straight. Have you ever found yourself intently focused on or consumed by something? I have found that the Word of God does not change. I was looking at one of my old Bibles and saw that it was really used, worn out, had pages folded, lot of highlighted Scriptures and writing in the margins but it was still good and useful. I decided to reuse it because it contained what I needed. The messages of hope, joy, love and peace were still there. My life is like that used Bible sometimes I’m worn and torn, but Jesus doesn’t throw me away. He takes my life and recycles me. God allows me to be reused for His glory. I’m so glad scripture constantly reminds me that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forevermore.
There’s nothing like a warm blanket when it’s cold outside. There’s nothing like being covered and protected. When I’m feeling insecure I must remember to take cover and ask God for protection. When I surround my anxious thoughts, fears and doubts with honest prayer, God always wakes up that confidence in me that I often let go to sleep. He restores my soul when I’m weak, He comforts and strengthens my heart with truth and promises of love that never fails.
My prayer for my insecurities is this: Lord, secure my mind, my thoughts and my life in your blanket of love. Cover me and protect me from evil and fear. You are a good God and I am totally secure in You, Amen.
Hebrews 13:6 So we can confidently say, The Lord is my helper, I will not fear; what can man do to me?
