Gifts & Givers

GivingIf you’re giving to get, I hope you get this lesson.  I learned a long time ago, giving is not about getting.  It’s all about trusting, believing and worshipping.  Giving is living,  so I worship God by giving a little more to Him each day.  You too can worship by giving. Try giving a moment of your time and help someone who is sick or lonely and feeling down.  Help them see a better day, or even a better hour.  Give of your financial resources and help someone breathe a sigh of relief, keep calm, and relax.  Give of your talents and help someone get to another level.  Help them live out their faith, walk in their gift and put fear aside.  Give yourself some quiet time to pray for others and speak to God on their behalf.  Give a smile or encouraging word to those who feel hopeless and helpless.  Help them live strong by knowing  God is able to give them everything they need.  Each time I worship and give freely  to others without any expectations of getting in return,  God blows my mind with His faithfulness, unfailing love, grace and mercy. When we give to God He gets all the glory.  Now that’s what I call living on pitch.

Messages of Love

I have received so many e-mail messages on love this week. The messages are mostly advertisements to remind me to buy something to celebrate, surprise, amaze, cherish my true love and my sweetheart. Chocolate, fruit, nice dinners, and jewelry are all fine but they are not the greatest gifts. The best messages of love come from how we live our lives according to God’s word. The Bible says love is not arrogant or rude and doesn’t insist on its own way. Love isn’t envious or boastful. Love never ends. One of my favorite songs about love says “by this men will know that we are Christ disciples” When I give love away with a message of hope and faith I am sending the right message.  God’s love always amazes me. I am blood-bought, not dipped in chocolate bought or nice restaurant bought, or even bling bought. I cherish the fact God so loved me that He gave His only son for me. I have tasted and seen the sweetest of love in my walk with God from the moment I invited Jesus into my heart. I invited Him in and God ignited me to live on pitch for Him. That’s my love story and I’m giving this message of love, faith and hope away today. God so loves you too. Invite Jesus into your heart and you will receive the greatest gift of love!

I Can’t Celebrate Mother’s Day

714f88f9f2cbdf4ebb6f3f6dfefa8699

It is the season to celebrate, wow and excite moms for a day.  We buy gifts, send cards and make phone calls to show our love but I can’t celebrate Mother’s Day  like a 1 Day Sale at Macy’s.  You see, moms deserve more than one day on a calendar, they deserve to be celebrated everyday.  They deserve to be honored. We’re blessed to have mothers past and present who’ve shown their love everyday in so many different ways. I don’t think I can schedule express love for mom in just one day. I need to just do it everyday.  I will honor my mother just like the Bible says to do.  My mom always said to me,” Mother’s day is everyday.” That means when I run an errand for her, help her or the grandkids out with a project, remind and take her to a doctor’s appointment, put gas in her car, call or text her, (even though she doesn’t always  text me back), it’s Mother’s Day.  It’s also when I cook dinner, take her shopping, get the bags out of her car,  pull the car around for her when she is tired of walking, help her stay organized with bills, clean up the house, decorate for a family gathering, laugh and cry with her, or do whatever she asks me to, it’s Mother’s Day. So I will continue to honor my mom daily and let God wow and excite her beyond what I can do in His own chocolate-dipped, freshly crafted kind of way.

Exodus 20:12 (ESV) says “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
