This weekend I plan to live wiser by being content and spiritually fit. This is not my world and I trust God who owns everything. I Timothy 6:6-10 says But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils, it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Guard Duty
I recently went to my Zumba dance class at night and I noticed how this security guard walked around and kept checking things out. I saw him even encourage a few of us to keep going. I noticed how closely he stayed by our group and watched out for the group. I could tell he took pride in his job and saw how he was guarding not just out patrolling and strolling. We felt safe and a little more secure knowing the guard was doing his job. I realized guarding my heart as the bible says in Proverbs 4 is important. It requires my focus and the ability to keep a close eye on things in life. With my eyes open, I can’t just let anything get to my heart. Guarding means paying attention to surroundings. So today I will live wiser by being a security guard over my heart. I will keep watch over it and guard my thoughts! How can you keep an eye on your surroundings and guard your heart today?
Happy New Year 2017
Happy New Year! “This will be your year” are the words I noticed printed on the reusable bag that was hanging on the aisle as I left the store. I thought about that and said to myself, Lord this new year (and every year past) is your year. What will I choose to do with another year the Lord has spared? This year, I want to grow and live wiser. I want to be good ground. I want to apply wisdom and knowledge. So I will begin this year with a focus on living wiser and on pitch. I will not despise wisdom and instruction, I will search and seek it out. Proverbs 2:6 (ESV) says For the Lord gives wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. I invite you to join me for the next few weeks as God shows me how to live wiser and purposefully on pitch through his Word. Starting today I will #livewiser. What will you choose to do with this new year the Lord has given you?
