acts-3_19-refreshment

I loveΒ refreshmentsΒ  served at church.Β  When I was a little girl growing up in church we always had some kind of refreshment in between service.Β  It wasΒ ginger snaps and lemonade after Sunday School and in the afternoon program servicesΒ it was always cake and punch.Β  We would line up and wait patiently as we were served something lightΒ to helpΒ get us through the next serviceΒ or to takeΒ home with us.Β  Now as I look back, they may not have been the healthiest of food choices but the main idea of leaving refreshed was a very healthy choice.Β  The story of the lame man being healed in ActsΒ 3Β is a refreshing one to me.Β  Peter and John had no silver or gold to give him, but they gave him Jesus Christ who was the healer.Β  The man’s feet and ankles were strengthened byΒ Peter’s prayer in which he called on the name of Jesus.Β Β God healed him and gave him refreshment, a testimony and a story to tell for the rest of his life.Β  In verse 19 of that same chapter in Acts, it tells us times of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord.Β Β It is only when we repent of our sins and turn to GodΒ that weΒ experience true refreshment.Β Β Just like the Sunday snacks or light refreshments I was served at church, being in God’s presence always helpsΒ me get through life’s journey.Β  Some days IΒ feel like I’mΒ sitting at a gate justΒ waiting for a miracle of some sort. I want someone to come by with refreshments.Β  I want to be offered something more that will cause me toΒ rise up and walk.Β  My feet and ankles are tired, IΒ getΒ weak, both physically and mentally.Β Β I want to just sit down sometimes and do nothing.Β No serving, no thinking, noΒ feeling, no dreaming and no helping or encouraging.Β  That’s when I know I need refreshment.Β  I need to pray and spend time in the presence of the Lord.Β Β Sometimes God sends people, a text or a phone call.Β  Sometimes IΒ intentionally pause andΒ take a few moments toΒ pray.Β  IΒ  ask God to strengthenΒ and refresh me.Β  Are you sitting at a gate today?Β  Will youΒ allow God’s presenceΒ to Β provide you withΒ  what you need toΒ get through it all?Β Β I guaranteeΒ His presence will have you leaping, walking andΒ praising His name in no time.

Prayer: Dear Lord thank you for your presence today.Β  There really is nothing like it.Β  Refresh me and renew my strength today.Β  Help me walk again, strengthen my feet and myΒ ankles when I feel like I’mΒ collapsing or sitting down too long.Β Β I confess my sins to you, for you alone are able to make me rise up in this situation.Β Give me hope andΒ strength forΒ today, inΒ the name of Jesus.Β  Amen.

Eow! Did I need to hear this today. This is beautifully written inspiring and uplifting. Yes! I am lifted. I was sitting at the gate this morning, and for apart of the noon day.

For some reason I was was punishing myself for feeling asunder and under while facing moments of frustration that were strongly and presently challenging me. But God!

Thanks to the humbling spirit of silence and a moment prayer to search my heart. In doing so I was lead to read your post today, and boy am I glad I did.

I have been lifted and thank God for the bible scripture that grasped my attention in the mist. Isaiah 41:10 ESV fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your Gid, I will Strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Glory be to the father. Thank you for sharing the blessing of Gods goodness and mercy for refreshing our mind, body and soul. πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸΎ
