Some of my family members have just experienced the worst flooding in their state of Louisiana. I have seen pictures, read stories and saw how devastating this flood was. I really don’t know what to say about those going through this natural disaster. Some have lost loved ones while others lost their homes and other possessions. I’ve never been rescued by boat or had to wait for the Coast Guard to help me out of a situation. My heart goes out to them. My heart was heavy for a minute and I had no words when I heard about what was going on. I wanted to pray but I didn’t really know what to say. I found comfort in God’s word. He is no stranger to floods. I could choose to focus on the flood or focus on the blood of Jesus. I chose the latter and told myself to focus on the blood of Jesus. God always has the right words when I don’t know what to do or say. As the waters start to recede, I learned that my family members are all safe. They have to clean up and try to get back to normal life while the aftermath reminds them of the devastation. I thank God for His mercy and grace. I’m praying this simple prayer for the families and for those who lost their loved ones: Lord help. I thank God for the Samaritan’s Purse organization who is providing local support and aid to the people of Louisiana.
