I went on a summer road trip with my sister not too long ago. We drove 6 hours to get to our destination. The drive was good both going and coming. A few times traffic slowed down but it picked up quickly and we kept moving. There was so much more to see and notice while were driving on the road. Going at this pace allowed us to see the other trucks and cars, RV’s, license plates, signs and billboards, mountains, nature, and the beautiful sky. We weren’t rushing just enjoying the ride. It made me think of how wonderful it is to slow down some time. We got to really enjoy the view and learned how to take the scenic route, overcome fears and travel wisely to manage our time and spending. I posted a picture on my social media about working hard and playing hard, which got me to thinking about balance. We work hard and sometimes we forget to enjoy life. We can easily forget about the work to live a balanced enjoyable life.

Slowing down is essential to living well and embracing balance. It takes work. We must do the work. I’m going to share with you what I learned and how to do it. Slowing down is about four things: Seasons, Lessons, Options and Wisdom. How you handle each of these matters. You must ask yourself first, what season am I in? Is this a season of rest and relaxation or a season of stress and overwhelm? Evaluation is key because seasons change and so do you. Secondly, remember that lessons are always out there. It’s important to focus on simplicity and being teachable. Going back to basics is how you do it. Take simple steps and don’t try to do everything all at once. If you slow it down you can usually reflect and discover a lesson to be learned or one you can teach someone else. Thirdly, remember it’s ok to choose yourself as a priority. It’s ok to opt in to your mental, physical, and spiritual care. Find ways to create more options for yourself by setting boundaries, saying no or even staying silent at times. Lastly there is always room for growth and wisdom. Wisdom comes when you slow down. Stay connected, seek guidance for your life and rely on God’s wisdom to help you on your journey. It’s ok to take the SLOW route- go through seasons, learn life’s lessons, be open to options and seek God’s wisdom. Now that’s what I call living on pitch.

My new ebook is called The Slow Down, Embracing Balance and will be out soon. Stay tuned for more updates.
