One of my favorite hymns is What A Friend. When I heard about the passing of Aretha Franklin music began to play in my head of her greatest hits. I remembered hearing her voice on my dad’s 8-track. Precious Lord and What A friend were my favorites. My dad played that 8-track on many family road trips when I was a little girl. I know she sang RESPECT but I loved to hear her sing What A Friend mostly! She will definitely be missed and was a well known artist. I often wonder what song will I I be known for? I don’t sing regularly on a stage or travel the world in sold out concerts but I do have a voice. I can tell a story. Will the song of my life matter when I’m gone? I want to live for Christ and leave a legacy of notes about a loving God, a faithful friend, a forgiving Father, a blessed assurance and hope of salvation to all who accept and believe. Thank God for life songs and for the gift of life today. How do you celebrate life?

My Weekend Song
Today I’m sharing this YouTube lyric video from Aaron Shust. This song is one I heard at a Women’s Conference and it became a favorite quickly. This is my song for the weekend. What song are you singing this weekend? Enjoy and have a safe Labor Day.
Sing Your Way
I love to sing and listen to good music. I can get lost pretty quick in a sweet melody that keeps me humming all day long. I can go from the shower to the car, from the car to the desk. I can sing of God's love and not even rest. From the desk to the gym, don't let it be an old hymn. I keep those in my heart for days I don't even want to start. Music is truly an amazing thing God created. Thank God we can sing our way through everyday. God gave us music, and He allows us to express creativity as we sing. No matter what your day looks like add a song to it. Encourage yourself in the car, in the shower, at your desk or as you walk down the street. Sing your way through today. Make it a concert, let your heart sing, your hands clap and your feet pat. God hears you and your voice stands out to Him.
Thought: Today, I choose to worship on purpose and give it my all.
Psalm 96:1
Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth.
I Chronicles 16:23
Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim His salvation day after day.
How I Say Good Morning to God
My prayer this morning is simple. The words to the hymn I Am Thine O Lord say it all. Draw me nearer Lord, Nearer blessed Lord. My favorite verse says :
Consecrate me now, to thy service Lord, By the power of grace divine
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope and my will be lost in Thine.
My morning prayer is Lord help us live with purpose and grow closer to you.
Now that’s what I call living on pitch. It’s all about #thatworshiplife.
Music Break
Sometimes I need a break, not a coffee break but a music break. Music is one way I relieve stress. I get lost in songs and at times I get really caught up in lyrics. I’m in the studio between my ears. I start to fade into a verse or chorus and slowly fade out of everyday tasks, troubles and time constraints. It’s just me and the music as I listen intently for my cue to journey on to beautiful chords, progressions and sounds. I may even drift away like sand but I am always paying close attention like a drummer who doesn’t miss a beat. Each song takes me on a journey through a museum of instruments, vocal arrangements, style and overall artistry. I love taking music breaks. Listening to music has always been soothing for my soul. I thought I’d share a song I play sometimes for stressful days and when I am in need of a break. God is faithful and gospel artist Yolanda Adams reminds me every time she sings the song called Alwaysness. It’s done so flawlessly. I love her voice and this song. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Click on the YouTube link below and enjoy a little music break.
On The Move with Surrender All
I listen to a lot of songs to keep me inspired and I just love hearing uplifting messages in music. You know the kind that makes you see and feel the message as you listen to the words. Singer/Songwriter Jonathan Jenkins does just that with his music and videos.
