Don’t Miss It

I just returned from a trip to the Holy Land.  I can now say I have walked in the footsteps of Jesus.  I saw places I’ve read about and heard about in the Bible for many years.  I’ve eaten bread and taken holy communion in a garden.  I learned a lot in a few short days but one thing I couldn’t grasp was how the gospel message is still foreign to some.  While in the Holy Land, I heard someone ask their tour guide about Jesus as we were standing in front of a beautiful church.  The tourist said aloud, “I don’t know this Jesus.” She said it as if she wasn’t sure who the tour guide was talking about.  The historical facts, the architecture designs and the stones were intriguing to us all, but her words hit me like a ton of bricks as I passed through a crowd to catch up to my group.  I silently prayed she would get to know Jesus personally, not just learn his name at a tour site.  That day I learned sometimes we can truly miss Jesus at home and abroad.  We can walk in his footsteps but not walk like Him.  We can eat bread and drink water but forget the source of it all.  I learned we must seek Him as the Bible says, no matter where we are.  Seek to know Him better, seek Him to find answers to questions. Keep seeking to  see how the Bible stories will come alive in our walk of faith.  This is my prayer as I strive to keep living on pitch and I pray the same for you.

John 3:16 (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. that whoever believes in Him should not perish have eternal life.
